13th SAG: Nepal’s Gaurika wins first gold medal in swimming

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Gaurika Singh has won a gold medal in 200 meters swimming under the ongoing 13th South Asian Games (SAG), 2019.

In the competition held at the swimming pool at Satdobato, Lalitpur today, Gaurika bagged the gold medal in the 200-meter freestyle, completing it in 2 minutes 5 seconds and 6 microseconds.

Swimmers from India and Bangladesh secured silver and bronze medals respectively.

The Olympian swimmer, Gaurika, pocketed the first gold medal for Nepal in the SAG’s swimming under the individual category. Earlier, Nepal won a gold medal in the team event category.
