KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the provincial governors were replaced as the government thought that it was the right time to do so.

Talking to media persons in Banke on Tuesday morning, Chairman Dahal said that the NCP-led government allowed the governors to work for two years even though they had been appointed by the then Nepali Congress-led government.

“The NCP-led government allowed the governors to work for two years since it is liberal and flexible,” said Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, adding, “The governors were reshuffled since it thought it was necessary. It falls within the jurisdiction of the government,” said Dahal.

Dahal further said that the government retains the right to reshuffle provincial governors as they are the representatives of the central government.

The decision was taken following discussions with the ruling Samajwadi Party.
