SC denies bail for India’s former minister Chidambaram



NEW DELHI: India’s Supreme Court (SC) has rejected the anticipatory bail to India’s former Union minister P Chidambaram in a case of money laundering, Indian media reports have said.

Chidambaram had earlier sought protection from arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) that was investigating into the matter. Now that the ED can take Chidambaram in custody.

Chidambaram, meanwhile, is in the custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation.

The SC on Thursday dismissed his plea challenging the Delhi High Court’s order denying him anticipatory bail. (Agencies)
