India concerned over its two Indian diplomats harassed in Pakistan

NEW DELHI: India has raised its serious concerns with Pakistan over what it said ‘harassment’ of two of its diplomats by intelligence personnel last month, Indian media reported.

Indian has asked Pakistan to initiate an inquiry and prevent recurrence of such incidents, reports said.

The Indian government has also communicated its concerns about the security of the Indian High Commission in Pakistan’s Islamabad.

Reports said India has also sent a note verbale in April opposing about the harassment of two diplomats and their being locked up in a room for several minutes at Gurdwar Sacha Sauda Gurdwara near Lahore on April 17.

According to media reports, the two Indian diplomats, who were at the Gurdwar to facilitate Indian pilgrims, were threatened, warning them not to come to the area again.

The Indian diplomats were locked up in a room by Pakistani intelligence personnel, and their bags were searched. (Agencies)
