Reconstruction of Ranipokhari begins



KATHMANDU: The reconstruction of the earthquake-damaged historic Rani Pokhari in Kathmandu has commenced after being marred by several delays.

The reconstruction of the Ranipokhari has begun through the Users Group, informed National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) Chief Executive Officer Sushil Gyewali.

Chairperson of the Reconstruction Users Group, Ajaya Sthapit stated that they would follow the guidelines set by the NRA while reconstructing the pond created by Pratap Malla in 1670 AD.

A total of 40 artisans have been involved in the reconstruction process. The number of artisan will be increased according to the need, it is informed. Likewise, Chairperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-1, Bharat Lal Shrestha pledged to provide all necessary support for the same.

It should be noted that a meeting of the cabinet on January 28 had decided to entrust the NRA with reconstructing the Ranipokhari and other monuments in its vicinity having historical significance.
