KATHMANDU: The ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has instructed the concerned body to cut the tax rates in Dharan Sub-metropolitan City.

The party gave the instruction after it lost the mayoral election held on Saturday.

A meeting of the NCP election mobilization committee for Dharan reviewed the election and came to the conclusion that they lost the by-election due to the high tax rate that the sub-metropolis had imposed for the fiscal year 2076/77.

The meeting instructed the Dharan parliamentary committee of the party to review the tax rate.

A press statement issued by the party said that today’s meeting has instructed the Dharan parliamentary committee to review the tax rate and start cutting the tax rates.
