BIRENDRANAGAR: Seven districts in Karnali State have been facing a food crisis.

Out of the 10 districts in the state, Dailekh, Kalikot, Jajarkot, Humla, Jumla, Dolpa and Mugu can manage foodstuff hardly for three months.

According to the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture and Cooperatives of the Karnali State, these seven districts rely on Rukum, Surkhet, and Salyan districts for food.

The Ministry said that Karnali State faces a shortage of 25,000 metric tons of food grains.

According to the ministry, only 3,26,000 metric tons of food grains are produced in these districts against the need for 3,52,000 metric tons annually.

Due to the hostile geography, these districts produce only herbs and fruits.
