Basnet demands graft probe against Kulman Ghising

KATHMANDU: Leader of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Mahesh Basnet has demanded the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) investigate graft allegations against Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Kulman Ghising.

Speaking at Parliament on Tuesday, lawmaker Basnet demanded that the constitutional anti-graft body and the Parliament’s Finance Committee probe alleged irregularities in the power authority and its boss.

Earlier, speaking at the meeting of Finance Committee lawmaker Amanlal Modi had accused Ghising of embezzling nine billion in the pretext of recovering due amounts from industrialists and businessmen using dedicated and trunk lines.
