POKHARA: Bangladesh Women’s team started SA Games cricket with a comfortable victory over Sri Lanka.
In reply to Sri Lanka’s 122/6, Bangladesh reached their target with nine balls and seven wickets to spare.
After winning the toss in Pokhara, Bangladesh skipper opted to bowl.
Sri Lanka struggled against the controlled bowling efforts from the Bangladeshi bowlers.
They managed to amass 122/6 in the allotted 20 overs, with Umesha Thimashini scoring the only fifty for the islanders. She was not out on 56.
Bangladesh’s Nahida Akhter picked up four wickets for 32 runs.
Chasing a modest total, Bangladesh looked in control from the beginning, even after losing opener Murshida Khanum early.
A 53 run partnership, between Sanjida Islam and Ayesha Rahman for the second wicket, gave Bangladesh in the advantage.
Ayesha was out after scoring 29. Sajida remained unbeaten on 51 and was the player of the match.
