SAG 2019: Nepal wins 5 gold medals



KATHMANDU: Nepal bagged five gold medals in the ongoing 13th South Asain Games (SAG) held in Kathmandu.

Sina Maden Limbu won a gold medal in the Taekwondo event. She won the medal under age category of women’s  17-23 years.

Sina scored 8. 150 points while India’s Rupa Bayor grabbed a silver medal scoring 8.130 points. Sri Lanka is compelled to satisfy with a bronze medal.

Similarly, a team of Nirmala Tamang, Saru Karki, and Ranjita Malla bagged a gold medal. Nepal scored 24.88 points while Pakistan bagged silver medal scoring 23.3 points.

Likewise, Kamal Shrestha won a gold medal in the Taekwondo event.

Likewise, Karate player Mande Kaji Shrestha won the gold medal in the Karate Single Kata tournament.

He defeated Pakistani player Niyamtullaha in the final match. He scored 24 points against 22.8 points obtained by Niyamtullaha.

Similarly, Sony Gurung won the gold medal in the Triathlon tournament held at Lakeside, Pokhara.

Meanwhile, Karate player Chanchala Danuwar won the silver medal in the Karate event.

So far, Nepal has bagged six medals in the multi-sports event.
