RAJBIRAJ: A man died and 20 others sustained injuries in a collision between a passenger bus and a truck on the East-West highway at Rupani of Saptari district Saturday morning.
Bus driver, 40-year-old Namoraj Neupane of Jagatdev, Syangja district was killed in the accident, Superintendent of Police Teelak Bharati said.
Neupane had been currently living in Butwal Sub-metropolitan City, Rupandehi. According to police, Neupane who was fatally injured in the accident was taken to the Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital at Rajbiraj for treatment.
He died in the course of the treatment. Those injured in the accident have been taken to the Unique Hospital at Raipur, police said.
Police teams were dispatched to the accident site from the Area Police Office Rupani, the District Police Office Saptari and the Area Police Office Kalyanpur for rescue as soon as getting information about the accident.
The passenger bus (Lu 1 Kha 8214) was going west towards Bhairahawa from Kakarbhitta and the truck (Na 8 Kha 5903) was heading towards the east from the west at the time of the accident. Police have impounded the truck and its driver for investigation.
