US President Trump hits China with more tariffs

WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump has promised to impose a 10 percent tariff on $300 billion of Chinese imports from September 1.

This is expected to sharply escalate the trade war between the world’s largest economies – the United States and China — and jolting financial markets, report have said.

Trump’s announcement extends the trade tariffs to nearly all of the Chinese goods the United States imports. He has also warned to raise tariffs further if Chinese President Xi Jinping does not move quickly to strike a trade deal. (Agencies)
