Nepali national employed in French army dies



KATHMANDU: A Nepali national employed in French army died due to a possible cardiac arrest or hydrocution while swimming in southern France.

The deceased is identified as Durga Magar, 32, of Solukhumbu district. Magar had been living in France for 12 years.

Preliminary report suggests Magar died of drowning with no further explanation. An eyewitness said he had jumped into cold water to beat extreme heat and died of a possible hydrocution or heart attack.

Nepalis employed in the French Army and his near and dear ones have been saddened by the untimely demise.

His dead body will be sent to Nepal following approval from the hospital and a condolence ceremony. Meanwhile, a fund collection campaign has been started to send the dead body back to Nepal.
