38th birth anniversary of Prakash Dahal marked (photo feature)

KATHMANDU: The 38th birth anniversary of Prakash Dahal, the youth leader of the then CPN (Maoist Centre), has been marked amidst a function in the Capital City on Tuesday.

Speaking at the function organized by Prakash Dahal Foundation, Prakash’s father and Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal said his son lived his life to the fullest.

“Although he passed away at the age of 36 years, he lived his life to the fullest going through all sorts of ups and downs in life learning many things,” Dahal said, “He received an experience of war and peace process.”

On the occasion, five persons were honored for their contribution to mountaineering sector. Those honored are Korean national Um Hong-gil, Gyanendra Malla, Tshering Thundu Sherpa, Maya Sherpa and Aang Sharki Sherpa.

Born on July 1, 1981, in Chitwan district, Prakash was the youngest child in the family after three elder sisters, Gyanu Dahal, Renu Dahal, and Ganga Dahal. He was friendly and helpful since childhood.

Prakash studied till grade 8 at Shree Shanti Madhyamik Vidhyalaya, Patan. With the start of civil war on February 13, 1996, he completed his higher education from Jalandhar, Punjab, India. He began his political journey in 2000 after being appointed as personal secretary to Prachanda, Maoist Supremo, his father.

Prakash died of cardiac arrest on Nov 19, 2017. He had also summitted the world’s highest mountain.
