Nepali Congress maintains lead in Dharan

DHARAN: Nepali Congress (NC) candidate has taken lead in the by-elections held for the Mayor of Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City.

As per the latest vote count, NC’s Tilak Rai has got 6,857 votes and his closest contestant Prakash Rai of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has garnered 6,423 votes.

In the local level election the then UML’s Tara Rai had won the post of Mayor. By-elections were held in the city after his death.
