KATHMANDU: Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has reiterated his stance saying those involved in heinous crimes such as murder and rape during the decade-long conflict would not be condoned.

Stating that since he led the insurgency, he needs to own it up.

“I have been advocating since the Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA) that those involved in the heinous crimes should not be condoned,” he said at a program at the party office in Dhumbarahi today.

He reiterated proper investigation of each crime saying that the transitional justice mechanism as Truth and Reconciliation Commission, and Commission for Investigation on Enforced Disappeared Persons have been formed to address justice.

“Investigation is a must to not repeat such conflict in future,” he said.

He also expressed the commitment that laws to be formulated on transitional justice would not allow general amnesty relating to the conflict era cases.

“In the country’s history, there have been several incidents that I am responsible for. There are cases against me. If I’m a culprit, I’m prepared to face the action,” he said.

Dahal also said the office-bearers in the TRC and CIEDP would be appointed at the earliest.
