Foreign Minister Gyawali to attend Indian Ocean Conference in Maldives

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Gyawali left for the Maldives today to attend the Fourth Indian Ocean Conference to be held in Male from September 3 to 4.

Foreign Minister Gyawali is scheduled to address the conference on September 3, according to a press statement issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs MoFA). He is leading a three-member delegation.

With the theme “Securing the Indian Ocean Region: Traditional and Non-Traditional Challenges”, the two-day conference will see foreign ministers from India, Singapore, Maldives, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan.

Minister Gyawali is also scheduled to hold talks with his Maldivian counterpart Abdullah Shahid, according to MoFA.

He will return home on September 5.
