KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday refused to issue an interim order on the writs calling for an order to cancel the advertisement called by the Public Service Commission (PSC) for various vacant posts in the local level.

The refusal by the apex court has paved the way for the constitutional body to go ahead with the vacancy announcement.

A joint bench of Justices Hari Krishna Karki and Aananda Mohan Bhattarai refused to issue a stay order while responding on the four similar writs filed demanding to cancel the vacancy.

The petitioners had argued that the advertisement for open and inclusive category competitive examinations was against the spirit of the Constitution.

The Commission had published the advertisement for a total of 9,161 seats for 515 local levels last May 29.
