Govt prioritizes railway, allocates Rs 7.7 bln

KATHMANDU: The government has allocated Rs 7. 7 billion for the railway construction in the fiscal budget 2019/20.

Rs 4 billion had been allocated in the fiscal year 2018/19. Unveiling the budget, Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada said the additional budget Rs 3.2 billion will be spent on the acquisition of the land that falls along the railway.

The government has planned to construct 4,000 kilometers railway in the coming 20 years.
