‘Feta Rural Municipality hardest-hit with 17 killed’

KATHMANDU: The highest number of casualties has occurred in Feta Rural Municipality alone, taking the latest death toll to 31. A total of 32 people died after an unprecedented windstorm hit Bara and Parsa district on Sunday evening.

A person died in Parsa. Over 500 people sustained injuries in the storm. The condition of most of those injured in the calamity is said to be critical.

According to Trilok Prasad,  provincial lawmaker of Bara 1 (A), Feta Rural Municipality is the hardest-hit with where 17 people were killed. However, it is yet to be verified by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The hospitals in Bara and Parsa districts are chock-a-block with the injured, according to lawmaker and the treatment getting hit due to lack of sufficient number of medical persons.

The provincial government is distributing noodles and biscuits as relief materials to the victims.
