5-member high-level panel formed to investigate Bara-Parsa storm



KATHMANDU: The government of Province 2 has formed a five-member high level immediate relief and rescue committee under Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Gyanendra Kumar Yadav.

Minister for Social Development Nawal Kishor Sah, Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forests and Tourism and Environment Ram Naresh Raya, Chief Attorney Dipendra Jha while the Under Secretary at the Ministry of Law is the member secretary in the committee.

The committee will investigate the deaths and property damages caused by the cyclone that hit Bara and Parsa districts on Sunday evening.

A cabinet meeting of Province 2 held this morning decided to provide Rs 300,000 each in relief to victims’ families killed by the storm.

Chief Minister Lal Babau Pandit has reached the incident sites to take stock of the damages this morning and expressed deep sorrow over casualties and damages caused by the storm.

Similarly, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths induced by the windstorms in Province 2.
