Fire breaks out at motorcycle showroom on Laxmi Puja

KATHMANDU: A fire broke out in a motorcycle showroom at Gaighat, Udayapur, on the night of Laxmi puja. The fire broke out in the showroom after performing Lakshmi Puja last night.

The showroom belonged to Om Rauta Rani House and Suppliers in Triyuga Municipality-12. It is said motorcycles of 43 different companies have been completely reduced to ashes. It is estimated that the fire started at midnight due to an electric short circuit in the electric lamp lit during Laxmi Puja.

After worshiping Laxmi, the showroom was closed and the operators Tek Bahadur Dahal and Rajkumar Raut went home. However, a fire broke out in the middle of the night. Neighbors had searched the area after smelling plastic burning.

Police had tried to control the fire by breaking into the showroom after seeing the flames inside the store. The fire was brought under control after three hours.

According to preliminary estimates, the fire has caused a loss of more than Rs 15 million.
