Tension flares as police barge into Saptari quarantine

KATHMANDU: The tension has flared in quarantine at High School based in Tilathi Koiladi of Saptari district.

Coronavirus patients staged a hunger strike shouting slogans against the administration for its highhandedness.

According to the demonstrators, a group of police officials led by Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Sanjaya Singh from Parsain Police Post barged into the quarantine and thrashed them for no reason on Tuesday night.

“Security personnel entered the quarantine at midnight and misbehaved with us,”said Anu Kumari, a girl, who is currenlty serving time in quarantine.

Similarly, Santosh Kumar Singh, in-charge of the quarantine, also said the police entered the quarantine and misbehaved under the influence of alcohol.

A total of 73 people including 10 women are in the quarantine.
