Brigadier General Rana, Colonel Silwal under military custody



KATHMANDU: Military police of the Nepal Army has taken Brigadier General Prayog Jung Rana and Colonel Nabin Silwal under control on the charge of embezzling military fund.

Military tribunal of the Nepal Army on Friday relieved Colonel Bhupalman Singh Adhikari of his post and sent to jail and stopped Lt. Colonel Deb Bahadur Chhetri’s promotion for two years. The tribunal also decided to confiscate the amount he has misappropriated.

Nepal Army has claimed that it has adopted a zero tolerance policy on corruption and irregularities within the Nepal Army.

The investigation into Rana and Silwal is underway as per the same policy.

Rana has been charged for misusing private fund during his tenure as in-charge at Birendra Peace Operations Training Center, Panchkhal two years ago and embezzling military fund while at Chhauni.

Similarly, Silwal has been charged for misappropriating fund while he was at Birendra Peace Operations Training, Center, Panchkhal.

Meanwhile, a court of inquiry has been formed under the chairmanship of Major General Ananda Adhikari in which Brigadier General Sahadeb Khadka.

The court of inquiry has recorded statements of 12 military officers involved in the Panchkhal embezzlement.
