Construction of BOP building begins at Chhangaru

DARCHULA: Construction of a building for a border outpost for Armed Police Force at Chhangaru, a border among Nepal, India and China at Byas rural municipality-1 in Darchula district has started.

APF on Thursday called bidding for the construction of the building. The government has set aside Rs 110 million for the project.

The Home Ministry has a plan to mobilize an APF battalion comprising 160 APF personnel.

It is believed that setting up of APF camp in the area would safeguard Kalapani, Byasgupha, the entrance to Kailash Mansharobar which have carried historic, religious and tourism importance.

Additional two border outposts would be established Kauwa and Tinkar, which shares Chinese border under the command of the APF battalion.

For that, land procurement has started, said the Ministry. A team of 25 APF personnel was sent to the outpost in the area through a Nepalese Army helicopter on May 13.

Amounts of ration that sustain them for six months have been also supplied. The outpost is being run from a rented home of local Jit Bahadur Bohara. Monthly rent for the outpost is Rs 25,000.

India has constructed a road on Nepali territory from Gunju to Lipubhangjyan along the Mahakali River banks. The road leads to Manasarovar in China.

Nepal government deployed APF to the area right after India inaugurated the newly constructed road. RSS
