Number of coronavirus infected reaches 27 in Jhapa

JHAPA: The number of people contracting coronavirus in the Jhapa district has reached 27. As per updates released by the Ministry of Health and Population this morning, 15 new cases were found among the people from Ward No 3, 6, and 7 of Kachankawal rural municipality.

The newly infected belong to the age group from 18 to 46 years, according to the Ministry’s Joint Spokesperson, Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari. All of them are males. With this, the number of infected persons has reached 25 in Kachanakawal alone.

The newly infected ones had returned home from India on Tuesday. They had been stationed at different quarantines set up by the Rural Municipality.

The swab was collected from 65 persons staying in quarantine and sent to Koshi Hospital for the test. Among them, five were already tested positive on Wednesday night while the report of the 15 was released early this morning.

Earlier, 10 persons come home from Mumbai, India was tested positive for coronavirus from the same rural municipality.

However, two persons from Damak and Bahradashi tested positive for the virus have returned home after recovery.

Hundreds of people returning to Kakadbhitta, Kachankawal, Taghandubba, and Gaurigunja, have put these areas in further risk of COVID-19. Biramod Municipality has decided to seal off its area from coming midnight to stay away from the deadly virus. RSS
