Coronavirus infection cases climb to 76 in Province 1



KATHMANDU: The number of infection cases from Coronavirus has climbed to 76 in Province 1 after 17 new cases were confirmed this morning.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 15 people from Kachankabal rural municipality, Jhapa and one each from Dhankuta and Dharan Sub Metropolitan City, Sunsari have tested positive for the pandemic this morning.

Among those infected are 16 men aged 18, 18, , 319, 19, 22, 23, 23, 25, 26, 26, 28, 30 , 32, 37, 46, 34 and one woman aged 51, confirmed Joint Spokesperson Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari.

Meanwhile, the number of infection cases has reached 27 in Jhapa alone. The provincial government is carrying out tests on those who have recently returned from India.

The new cases were confirmed after their swabs results came out to be positive during tests at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences and Provincial Public Health Laboratory, Biratnagar.

Currently, 50 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the province of which 26 have recovered after treatment.

According to the province, 3,703 people have been tested through Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) while 9, 837 underwent Coronavirus tests through Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT), according to the province.
