NRB issues new guidelines for its operation during lockdown

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has issued ‘Bank Service Operation Guideline, 2077’ to continue its banking services during the lockdown enforced to stem the spread of coronavirus.

The central bank has issued the guideline to reduce the risk to the health of the bank’s employees, service recipients and stakeholders while operating the bank.

According to the central bank, the service should be delivered by a maximum of one-third of the employees, while the minimum physical distance between the employees should be maintained.

While conducting banking and cash management activities that are in direct contact with the service recipients, it is mandatory to use gloves and masks while maintaining a minimum physical distance.

Likewise, NRB stated that mandatory spraying of disinfectants has been made for counting the notes received to prevent the spread of infection from the notes.

It has been made mandatory to measure the body temperature every service recipient entering the office with an infrared thermometer and they must wear a mask.
