US to donate 200 ventilators to India

WASHINGTON: The US government said it would donate some 200 ventilators to India.

The first tranche of some 50 is expected to ‘arrive soon’.

The donation is a part of the efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the combat against the coronavirus pandemic, American officials have said.

US President Donald Trump had last week announced that the US will donate ventilators to India to treat coronavirus patients.

USAID Acting Director Ramona El Hamzaoui asserted that it was a ‘donation’ to India.

She said that the US government is set to donate around 200 ventilators to India.
