KMC urges govt to seal off all entry points to Kathmandu Valley



KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has urged the government to seal all the checkpoints entering the Valley during the lockdown enforced to stem the spread of coronavirus.

The 46th Special Municipal Executive meeting of the municipal has requested the Ministry of Home Affairs and District Administration Office, Kathmandu to seal off the borders of the county’s federal capital.

“As the risk of coronavirus infection is increasing in Kathmandu, it has been decided to send a letter to the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Home Affairs and District Administration Office, Kathmandu to seal all the entry points to the Valley during the lockdown,” reads the statement issued by KMC Spokesperson Ishwarman Dangol.

Similarly, the meeting has requested the Ministry of Home Affairs to make arrangements to allow entry Kathmandu Valley in emergency cases only after a health check-up at the points.

The meeting also decided to make necessary coordination with the concerned body to operate food, fruit and vegetable shops, cooking gas depots and drinking water shops in Kathmandu Metropolis only till 10 am daily.
