5 family members including baby of Nepal’s first COVID-19 deceased tested negative

KATMANDU: Five family members including the newborn of the woman who died of Coronavirus in Sindhupalchowk district have tested negative for the novel virus.

Swab results of family members including the baby came out to be negative, said Dr Suman Raj Tamrakar, Spokesperson at Dhulikhel Hospital. Their swabs had been tested at Dhulikhel Hospital.

Twenty-nine-year-old post-natal mother was confirmed to have died from Coronavirus three days ago.

Two people have died and 310 have been infected with Coraonavirus pandemic in Nepal after nine new cases were confirmed this morning.

Currently, 268 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 36 have recovered.

On Sunday, a 25-year-old youth, who tested positive with coronavirus, died while in quarantine in Banke, the Health Ministry has said.

His swab specimen was collected for testing and had come out positive, according to Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health Dr Bikas Devkota.

The deceased was a recent returnee from Mumbai, India.

He had returned to Nepal from Mumbai on May 12. Immediately after arrival he was taken to Naraina-based quarantine center in Banke.

According to Dr. Bikash Devkota, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population, medics from TU Teaching Hospital’s Community Medicine Unit, Dhulikhel Hospital’s Community Medicine Unit are working under the coordination of the Department of Epidemiology and Infectious Disease Control for the contact tracing.
