Coronavirus death toll crosses 316,500 globally with nearly 4.8 mln infected

KATHMANDU: With Coronavirus pandemic wreaking havoc across the world, the death toll from the novel virus has climbed to 316,519 after 3,617 died in the last 24 hours.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 82, 257 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to  4,799,266 as of Monday morning.

Currently, 2,626, 181 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the world, of which 44, 823 are critical. Meanwhile, 1,856,566 have recovered after treatment.

America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 860 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 90, 973.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 19, 053 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,526,826 as of Monday morning.

Currently, 1,090, 916 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 16,353 are critical.  Meanwhile, 344, 937 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 28, 325 deaths followed by New Jersey and Massachusetts with 10,366 and 5,797 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Italy has reported 145 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 31,908 so far.

The number of infection cases in the country has reached 225, 435 after 675 new cases were reported.

Currently, 68,351 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 762 are critical. Meanwhile, 125, 176 have recovered after treatment.

Spain has 277,719 infection cases and 27, 650 deaths so far. The country seems to have brought the Coronavirus pandemic much under control. The daily death rate has come down under 100.

Currently, 57, 124 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 1,152 are critical.

Meanwhile, 195, 945 have recovered after treatment.

The death toll in the United Kingdom (UK) from Coronavirus pandemic has reached 34, 636 after 170 died in the last 24 hours.

According to Worldometer, with 3, 534 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 243, 695 as of Monday morning.

UK has performed tests on 2,580,769 people so far.

The death toll in France has reached 28, 108 after 483 died in the last 24 hours. With 204 news cases the number of infection  cases has surged to  179, 569 have been as of Monday morning.

Currently, 90, 248 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 2, 087 are critical. Meanwhile, 61, 213 have returned home after recovery.

Similarly, Brazil has witnessed a surge in the deaths of people from Coronavirus of late. According to Worldometer, the death toll has reached 16, 118 after 485 died in the last 24 hours.

With 7, 938 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 241, 080 as of Monday morning.

Currently, 130, 840 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 8, 318 are critical. Meanwhile, 94, 122 have recovered after treatment.

India has reported 3, 025 deaths after 154 died in the last 24 hours. With 5,050 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 95, 698 as of Monday morning.

Currently, 52, 878 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country while 36, 795 have returned home after recovery. The India government has performed tests on 2,227,642 people for Coronavirus so far.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 213 countries including two international conveyances across the world.
