Nepal’s only electric crematorium goes phut

KATHMANDU: The electric crematorium at Pashupatinath area, the only power-operated crematorium in the country, has stopped working due to some technical glitches.

According to Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT), the crematorium went phut suddenly in the course of disinfecting it after cremating a dead body.

A 29-year-old woman, who had died of Coronavirus becoming the first death from the novel virus in Nepal, had been cremated on Saturday night.

Similarly, the mourning house located at Pashupati Area has been closed down due to the fear of Coronavirus infection, said the PADT.
