Sports in lockdown: First online kata competition

BHAKTAPUR: Amid the lockdown enforced to prevent and curb widespreading coronavirus pandemic, Shankha Dol Dojo of Kathmandu has organized online Kata competition, an event under Shito Ryu Karate Do .

During the lockdown and abiding the lockdown regulations, Kathmandu based Shankha Dol Dojo has organized open online Kata competition.

The organizers claim it the first online sport event in Nepal’s sports history.

According to Bhim Raj Karanjit, the main instructor of the organizing Dojo, 22 male and 11 female players participated actively.

Karanjit informed that Jagat Singh Dhanuk of Dhangadhi Karate Dojo stood first while Dhiraj Shreshtha of Balaju Dojo Kathmandu and Swornim Manandhar of Narahari Dojo stood 2nd and 3rd respectively in the male event.

Similarly, Rosma Rai, Khotang Dojo, Barsha Saud of Dhangadhi Karate Dojo and Sarita Shrestha of Kathmandu stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the female event of the sport.

The winners were awarded twelve thousand, six thousand five hundred and four thousand respectively.
