KATHMANDU: A 49-year-old Coronavirus-infected patient who is undergoing treatment at Coronavirus Special Hospital in Bharatpur reached the hospital at 11:30 pm on May 12.

Originally from Debchuli rural municipality, Nawalparasi had reached the hospital via the airport after he got off at the Central Bus Terminal of Bharatpur.

According to Dr Pramod Paudel of Bharatpur Hospital, a motorcyclist had offered him a lift when he saw him walk alone at night. But he rejected the offer saying that he had recently arrived from India and was going to the hospital for Coronavius testing.

The hospital has presumed that the motorcyclist may not have been infected since he was at a distance from the infected person.

According to Keshab Chapagain, Chief of District Health Office, Nawalpur, the infected person had left for Nepal on May 9 from Kolkata, India. He came to Raxaul on a truck laden with vegetables and then had caught another cargo truck to come to Nepal, said Chapagain.

Only the driver was there in the truck. He went to Coronavirus Special Hospital after his family members advised  him to come home only after undergoing testing for the novel virus, said Chapagain.

His health condition is normal. He has been kept in an isolation ward of the hospital.
