Coronavirus kills 83, 377, infects 1,408,155 in US



KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 1,582 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 83, 377.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 22, 321 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,408,155 as of Wednesday morning.

Currently, 1,028, 997 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which 16,473 are critical.  Meanwhile, 295, 781 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 27, 175 deaths followed by New Jersey and Massachusetts with 9,451 and 5,141 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 212 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 292,403 and infecting 4,337,104  people as of Wednesday morning.
