20 Nepalis test positive for Coronavirus in Malaysia; 3 recover



KATHMANDU:  Twenty Nepali migrant workers have tested positive for Coronavirus in Malaysia.

According to Nepali Embassy in Malaysia, 20 Nepali nationals have been diagnosed with the novel virus as of Friday, of which three have recovered after treatment.

The novel virus has also been seen in the Nepali security guards, too, The Star, a Malaysian media, reported. However, the Nepali Embassy is in the dark about it.

Meanwhile, as many as 2,600 Nepali migrant workers have submitted applications at the Embassy as of Friday, seeking arrangement for their homecoming.

The Embassy has appealed to all the Nepali migrant workers in Malaysia to fill out online forms reporting about their health status.

Nepali nationals whose visas expired since January 1 can return home within 14 days of the expiry of the lockdown. The ongoing lockdown in Malaysia will remain effective until May 12.

According to Worldometer, the death toll from Coronavirus in Malaysia has reached 107 as of Saturday morning. With 68 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 6, 535.

Currently, 1,564 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 18 are critical. Meanwhile, 4, 864 have returned home after recovery.
