1, 316 held for violating lockdown in capital on Thursday morning

KATHMANDU: The lockdown imposed by the Nepal government has entered the 45th day today. The capital city Kathmandu is quiet and only few vehicles categorized are essential are seen plying the road.

Police have arrested 1, 316 people from the Kathmandu Valley for violating the lockdown this morning.

According to police, 415 among those arrested are women while the rest are men. They were sent back home after taking an action against them.

Similarly, police have taken few vehicles under control which were found being used without passes during the lockdown.  A total of 281 vehicles were arrested, according to police.

Even though the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday relaxed some unions and professional organizations, the nationwide lockdown was extended until May 18. The number of infection cases has reached 99 in Nepal so far.
