Nepal reports 17 more COVID-19 cases, tally reaches 99

KATHMANDU: Nepal has confirmed 17 more new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the total of infections to 99.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Dr Bikash Devkota, Spokesperson at Ministry of Health and Population said those who tested positive for coronavirus are from Parsa.

The test at the Teku-based laboratory showed positive results.

While 7 of them are female, 10 are male ranging from two months to 66 years of age.

Likewise, six persons, have returned home after recovery, he said.

Meanwhile, it should be noted that 22 out of the 99 persons receiving treatment for COVID-19 have returned home after recovery.

Three people who had been discharged from hospital after recovery, have tested positive again.

The number of coronavirus tests through the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) method has reached 14,096 whereas 52,970 have been tested through the Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) method, Dr Devkota said.

A total of 931 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours.

The number of people in quarantine is 18,734 with 136 in isolation in the country.
