Lightning forecasting to begin soon



KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology under the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation is to begin forecasting of lightning as well.

Energy Minister Barshaman Pun shared that the Department will soon begin forecasting of the lightning. The Department has so far been forecasting rain, landslide and storm.

Minister Pun added that with the new bid losses to be caused by the lightning could be lessened with a forecast.

Secretary at the Ministry Rabindra Kumar Shrestha shared that the process to begin lightning forecasting was delayed due to ongoing lockdown caused by the COVID-19 outbreak but will begin soon.

This was shared at an interaction organized at the Ministry here today.
