Nepalgunj declared ‘prohibited zone’ until Thursday midnight

NEPALGUNJ: District Administration Office, Banke has declared Nepalgunj Sub Metropolitan City as a prohibited zone following a surge in the COVID-19 cases.

The DAO imposed an injunction in the district headquarters Nepalgunj after 23 Coronavirus cases were reported in a single day.

The injunction will remain effective from 6 am on Tuesday until Thursday midnight.

The injunction has been imposed banning the entry to all the wards of Nepalgunj Sub Metropolitan City, said Mayor Dr Dhawal Shumsher Rana.

No one will be allowed to come out of their houses during the period.

The security personnel would immediately arrest any person who comes out of their houses and take action as per the law, said Assistant Chief District Officer of Banke Dirgharaj Upadhyaya.

Meanwhile, Karnali Province has been completely sealed off after the coronavirus infection was seen in the neighboring provinces.

All the checkpoints in the province have been sealed after the coronavirus infection was seen in Province-5 and Far-West Province.

The number of COVID-19 infection cases has climbed to 82 in Nepal after seven more new cases were confirmed on Tuesday morning.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, seven more persons in Bheri Hospital and Nepalgunj have tested positive for the COVID-19.

Out of seven new cases, three are males aged 22, 30 and 40 while four women are of 09, 32, 34 and 55 years of age. They all are from Nepalgunj-8.

Nepal on Sunday had confirmed 16 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total of infections to 75.

Meanwhile, it should be noted that 16 out of the 82 persons receiving treatment for COVID-19 have returned home after recovery.
