Police strictly implementing lockdown



KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has been strictly implementing the nationwide lockdown imposed by the government to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The security agency has tightened the noose against rule breakers after the instruction of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Inspector General of Nepal Police (IGP) Thakur Prasad Gyawali has instructed the security personnel to forbid people from coming out of their houses.

He has also instructed police personnel to prevent vehicles plying on roads without permit issued by the District Administration Office.

IGP Gyawali said that Nepal Police have been coordinating efforts with other agencies to implement the lockdown in an effective manner.

Likewise, the police have also intensified the control of black marketeering and people flouting the stay-at-home instruction.

Police have also raised awareness about the lockdown by announcing via mike urging people to stay at home to help prevent the spread of the infection.

Likewise, police have stepped up its surveillance through the usage of technologies, including CCTV and drones to combat criminal activities.

Police have said that people wandering in public places will be sent back home with warning. However, if they re-appear disobeying the lockdown will, they will be booked.
