Coronavirus death toll crosses 217,800 globally with over 3.1 million infected

KATHMANDU: With Coronavirus wreaking havoc across the world, the death toll from the novel virus has climbed to 217, 813 after 6,365 people died in the last 24 hours as of Wednesday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 76, 562 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 3,136, 508.

Currently, 1,965, 386 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the world, of which 56, 965 are critical.

Meanwhile, 953, 309 have recovered after treatment.

America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has reported 2, 450 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 59, 246 as of Wednesday morning.

According to the latest figures collated by Worldometer, with 25, 040 new cases, the number of infection cases has surged to 1,035,396. This is an increase by 4, 157 compared to the other day.  It was     20, 883 on Tuesday.

Currently, 834, 199 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which the condition of 15, 635 is critical.  Meanwhile, 141, 951 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 23, 446 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 6, 442 and 3, 567 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Italy, the second worst-hit country in terms of deaths, has 383 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the total to 27, 359death as of Wednesday morning.

The number of infection cases in the country has reached 201, 505 after 2, 091 new cases were reported, the third highest in terms of infection cases, after Spain and America, according to Worldometer.

Currently, 105,205 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 1,863 are critical. Meanwhile, 68,941 have recovered after treatment.

Spain has the second highest number of infection cases with 232,128 after the United States of America (USA).

The country reported 2, 706 infection cases, 301 deaths in the last 24 hours. A total of 23, 822 have died due to the novel virus as of Wednesday morning.

Currently, 84, 403 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 7,764 are critical.

Meanwhile, 123, 903 have recovered after treatment.

The United Kingdom (UK) has reported 21, 678 deaths after 586 died in the lasts 24 hours as of Wednesday morning.

According to Worldometer,  the number of infection cases has surged to 161, 145 after 3, 996 new cases were reported.

Currently, 139, 123 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 1, 559 are critical.

France has reported 367 deaths in the last 24 hours taking to death toll to 23, 660 deaths as of Wednesday morning.

According to reports, the number of infection cases has surged to 165, 911 after 2, 638 died in a single day.

Currently, 95, 365 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 4, 387 are critical. Meanwhile, 46, 886 have returned home after recovery.

India has reported 1, 008 deaths and 31, 324 infection cases from Coronavirus as of Wednesday morning.

Currently, 22, 569 are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country while 7, 747 have returned home after recovery. The India government has performed tests on 716,733 people for Coronavirus so far.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 217,813 and infecting 3,136,508 people as of Wednesday morning.
