Gautam ‘suggests’ PM Oli to end party disputes thru consensus

KATHMANDU: Vice Chairman of ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Bamdev Gautam has clarified that he ‘suggested’ Prime Minister KP Oli to bail out the party from the mess on the basis of consensus.

Brushing aside reports that he was trying to influence Prime Minister Oli, Gautam – also an influential members in the party’s powerful Secretariat – dismissed allegations that he ‘by-passed’ party committees.

“I merely suggested the Prime Minister to move ahead on the basis of consensus,” Gautam said in a statement today.

Gautam has further stated that he also suggested Prime Minister Oli to convene the meeting of the party Secretariat, standing committee and even the central committee, if need arises, to narrow down the intra-party differences.

“Prime Minister Oli listened to me, spoke a little. I then walked away,” Gautam said in the statement.
