KATHMANDU: Udayapur district on Tuesday reported 11 new COVID-19 cases, the Ministry of Health and Population confirmed.
With this, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Nepal has reached 42. Out of the total cases, five have been discharged after recovery.
The Ministry stated that eight samples tested at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) and three at National Public Health Laboratory came positive today.
Among those tested positive of late, two are of 18 years, one of 20, one of 40, two of 41, one of 52 and another one of 58 years. All of them are male. Similarly, among them, two are female- one is 36 years old and another of unidentified age.
Eight out of 11 COVID-19 patients have been sent to Corona Special Hospital in Biratnagar. They were first admitted at BPKIHS and then sent to Biratnagar after their reports came positive.
On Friday, 13 people living at a mosque in Bhulke of the district were tested positive for coronavirus. People who tested positive today are those who came in contact with infected persons.
Meanwhile, the Province-1 government has decided to seal Udayapur after a surge in the number of COVID-19 infected persons. The district has recorded 24 COVID-19 cases so far.
