NC to pressurize govt to withdraw ordinances

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to put pressure on the government to withdraw the ordinances authenticated by the President on Monday on the recommendation of the cabinet.

A meeting of the party’s office bearers held on Tuesday morning discussed the Ordinances and demanded that the government withdrew it immediately.

The cabinet had on Monday brought an ordinance making it easier to split a party.

The main opposition NC has also dubbed the decision as ‘untimely’ saying that the government should have focused on preventing and combating the novel coronavirus pandemic.

“It’s unfortunate that the government is focused on unnecessary things at a time when the world is fighting the spread of COVID-19,” NC Spokesperson Bishwo Prakash Sharma said.

“Can the government or anyone say this ordinance will help the government to combat the coronavirus?” queried Sharma adding, “This is a height of irresponsibility.”
