US reports 42,514 deaths, 792,759 infection cases



KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has witnessed 1,939 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 42,514 as of Tuesday morning.

With 28, 123 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 792,759 according to the latest figures collated by Worldometer.

Currently, 677,856 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which the condition of 13, 951 is critical.  Meanwhile, 71,011 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 18, 929 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 4, 377 and 2, 468 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a public health emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 170,370 and infecting 2,479,691 people as of Tuesday morning.
