Govt’s move against spirit of constitution, democracy: Deuba

KATHMANDU: President of the opposition, Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba has strongly objected to the two ordinances issued by the government today.

Deuba said it was a tough time to fight against the deadly outbreak of COVID-19 and issuing such ordinance was irrelevant.

The government today has issued two ordinances: one related to the provision of splitting the political parties and the next one is related to the constitutional council.

It has proved that the government was not serious to safeguard the life of people in this critical hour of a pandemic, Deuba said.

“Such activities were due to the power game meant to remain in the government. The Constitution carries these provisions to ensure political stability but the latest move of government was against the spirit of constitution and democracy,” he added.

The party has further appealed to the government to withdraw these ordinances.
