US registers 40,532 deaths after 1,518 die in 24 hrs



KATHMANDU: America, the worst-hit in terms of both deaths and infection cases, has witnessed 1,518 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 40,532 as of Monday morning.

With 25, 261 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 764,053 according to the latest figures collated by Worldometer.

Currently, 652,520 coronavirus patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across America, of which the condition of 13, 566 is critical.  Meanwhile, 71,011 have recovered after treatment.

New York is the worst-hit with 18, 298 deaths followed by New Jersey and Michigan with 4, 202 and 2, 391 deaths, respectively.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) had declared Coronavirus a Public Health Emergency on January 31 in the US.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 164,930 and infecting 2,405, 325 people as of Monday morning.
