BHAKTAPUR: Various organizations in Bhaktapur district have set up free food camps to feed hungry workers and pedestrians in the wake of the exodus of people from Kathmandu to their districts for losing jobs.
Chairperson of district sports committee, Shreebhakta Kashichhawa, and other people provided foods free of cost to over 150 pedestrians heading towards home from Kathmandu on Sunday.
Some 50 other people also received food at Gatthaghar. The proprietor of Nagarik Community Teaching Hospital, Kashichhawa said the pedestrians were provided food free of cost.
They had arranged food for the stranded people after talks with lawmaker Mahesh Basnet.
Likewise, several organizations are also feeding free food to the people in Jagati since Saturday.
Kiran Thapa, chairperson of Suryabinayak municipality-8 said pedestrians, workers, and poor ones are provided food freely.
He said that humanitarian organization, Shipadole Area Paropakar Samaj, and Humanitarian Values Nepal arranged the food to the needy ones who were going out of the Kathmandu Valley on foot.
